Monetizing blogs

Steve Pavlina has an interesting post on his blog about how he is planning on changing the revenue model of his blog this year. Many of you know that Steve earns a decent income from his blog’s advertising in the 10 of thousands per month. I find it interesting that he is going to mess with that model. Basically Steve says he is going to leave the Advertising model with Adsense he currently employs and move more towards a model where he sells his own creations in the form of eBooks and Audio. Backing up your blogger blog

I don’t know how many times I’ve seen someone post on a forum about losing a blogger account and all their work being lost. Its true the the people at Blogger are sometimes a little too quick to remove a blog or group of blogs from a user without warning. This has caused a lot of concern from people who have blogs on blogger including myself.

Well Blogger Backup to the rescue. I saw this project on codeplex today that will help reduce the risks that blogger bloggers will lose all their hard work. Read the rest of this entry

MVP Summit

Well I’m off to Seattle for the next few days to attend the Microsoft Most Valauble Professional Summit. I was awarded MVP status a few years ago and have been able to obtain the award ever since. I’m excited to be attending this summit as I will get an inside look at what is coming out of Microsoft in the next couple of years.

One area I’m really interested in is the area of Mashups and will be attending a fairly long session on this topic. Mashups are not really a Microsoft only product, but more of a methodology. I expect Maskups to become the next big thing in the Internet. Think of it as Web 2.0 on steroids. People want more interaction from websites they visit and this is one of the ways you can offer this to your visitors. Read the rest of this entry
