Growing your Blog through development of readers

There is a really interesting post over at TechCrunch today on development of your readers. Neil makes some very valid points and offers some ways you can better engage your readers and as a result create more loyalty.

This is something we probably do not do enough of. Of course we are always obsessed about out RSS numbers and the traffic, but do we ever take the time to understand what people really want. It make’s sense if you find out what some of your readers want, then there are probably more people out there that want the same thing.

So what have you done lately to engage your audience? I know I have not done much, but I’m always open to ideas.

Making Business Decisions Count

I may change this theme very soon. I have a couple of reasons, the first is because I don’t like this one and second I’ve had some changes in my life which has prompted me to change my frequency of posting to this blog. Some of my long term readers know I have not been spending much time on this blog lately.

This has mainly been because I’ve been spending all my time on my money sites. I never considered this blog a money site. I started it just to have a place to share my ideas without selling to everyone all the time like a lot of the so called gurus do.

Well I’m still not going to change that, but I will need to start earning some revenue from this domain name. I’ve been downsized at the day job. Its good since I have a lot more time to dedicate to my online sites and its bad because now I must generate enough money online to pay my bills. Luckily for me I’m able to generate enough money from my online activities to pay my bills.

I know I’m lucky in that regard as a lot of people have a hard time earning any money or they earn very little from online activities. Perhaps we can help one another with this.

I signed up for Aweber late last year and paid for a year of hosting, but have not really promoted it. Its was one of those things where I needed some tax deductions so I spent money without really thinking of why I was spending it.

That is not good business. One word of advice, we all need to spend money to make money, but make sure you know exactly how you are going to receive a return on your investment before you spend money. Its not that Aweber is very expensive, but I should have had a plan for implementing it before I actually paid the money.

Well now I have a plan. I get so tired of getting emails from the so called gurus where they promise to teach something good, but then all they do is send pitch after pitch to my email. I’ve decided to start a different type of list.

I’m going to push my No Nonsense type posts to my aweber account. Now this does not mean I will not send out offers I think my subscribers may be interested in because I do have to pay for my hosting and expenses, but I will send out a tip that has been useful to me in my business to the list.

So check out the top left Corner and subscribe to my list. There is already a tip in there that has helped me get to over $100 dollars a day with Adsense on a single blog. And I am going to really share some stuff in that list that I don’t want to put out on a public blog for everyone to see.
