Well, it seems as if the success story behind PlentyOfFish keeps growing. You basically have a very ugly site that I don’t see how any one even thinks of going to, wel except that its a free dating site which is almost unheard of on the Internet. Looks like a lot of people are stil interested. In Markus’s blog he states that its giving the like of Yahoo Personals a run for the money.
Markus shocked the world last summer when he made statements on several internet forums on how PlentyOfFish earns over $10K every day with just Google Adsense. There was a lot of debate on whether it was a true statement or not, but from looking at Google’s earnings in the PPC market, I suppose its feasible. Way to go Markus, keep up the good work, but please upgrade the graphics on the site, you should have the money to pay to have it done by now.

Thing is – Plenty of fish is easy to navigate and it has the added feature of the forum – where you can talk and actually get to know people in a more ‘social’ setting. Many times, I’ll just go look because someone whose profile looks interesting, might be… well… a moron.
And as a single parent on a tight budget – the freebe of it is a nice additive. I’m on a bunch of sites that hound me daily to ‘join up’, ‘get your membership’ – and they cost from 19.95 a month to as much as 59.95 a month – and I’m seeing the same ole, same ole on every one of them.
so while some people might want to see more graphics or more this and more that – I kinda go ape when you change my normal around. As someone who isn’t really internet savy… I like it like it is.
That is a very interesting observation. I totally understand what you are saying. I complain about the design because I know it could look better, but I also understand not messing with something that is not broken.
It is apparent that the current design is serving its purpose and converting visitors into revenue which is what allows the site to remain free. I remember Markus remarking that he needs four dedicated servers to run the site and that costs money.
