Copy Blogger has an interesting post made by Muhammad Saleem Who I have not hear of previously but really seems to know his stuff when it comes to Writing for Digg. Muhammad makes some very good points about this subject. If you have not picked up Copyblogger today you may want to take a read.

The main point of the post is to not alienate your users and only try to write for Digg. Its been my experience is that while Digg can send you an enormous amount of traffic in a short amount of time most of the time those visitors don’t really help your site other than to increase your bandwidth costs. While this may not be true for all Niches its proven true for any of the ones I happen to be involved in. I will sometimes submit a post to Digg just for kicks, but I know especially with this blog, I don’t stand a chance of every getting to the front page. And I really don’t care. In my humble opinion Digg is over rated.

I’ve spent a good amount of time surfing Digg and there was a time when I dugg or buried a lot of content, but I rarely go there any more. Mainly because the site is so full of clicks that are very close minded to certain topics. I’ve heard mentioned that most Digg users tend to be young males and if this apparent rejection of anything different is an indication of how the young people of today analyze information, then I’m not sure the next generation is going to make it. Perhaps its just that I’ve gotten old( had to happen sometime) and I just don’t understand. Anyway these posts on how to write for Digg is supposed to become a series so I’m looking forward to actually reading the rest and perhaps gaining some insight what Digg really is.
