There is an interesting post about writing great blog posts at SuperBloggingTips.com. This has gotten me to thinking about content strategies for Blogging. DoshDosh has an interesting post about how to develop a content strategy. Everyone knows that content is king, but its very easy to get caught up in the flow and not really think about how each blog post contributes to your long term strategy for your blog. Whether your blog is designed to create Adsense revenue or Affiliate revenue the type of content you develop will determine how successful your blogging activities are. I’ve never really developed any sort of strategy for this blog, but it is definitely something I’m going to be thinking about a lot as I work towards my goal for Quitting my day job.
It would seem that the most important thing to consider when developing a content strategy is to write for your readers. If your readers want detailed instructions then longer posts should be a part of your strategy, but you also don’t want to make posts so long that you lose the attention of your readers. Longer posts do tend to attract the attention of other bloggers which may make them more apt to link to your posts. You want this for seo purposes and to help your position in the search engines. The important thing is to find a mix between the two.
