Long term readers of this blog know I have a bunch of blogs besides this one and on several of those I practice trend blogging. I’ve thought several times of writing about trend blogging, but I always thought I should probably create a product on this topic. I’ve seen a couple of products on how to do trend blogging and I’ve even read some blog posts on the subject, but non of them have really encompassed the subject well to my experiences.
Some of the suggestions I’ve seen is to watch the Hot Trends and then create a blogger blog or Squidoo lens on the current topic. The main idea in these types of strategies is to hope Google comes along and ranks your blogger blog. Personally I don’t think this is a valid strategy. It can sometimes takes days before a new blog is indexed and by then the hot trend is normally over. I’ve also seen people who set up autoblogs with various plugins that will monitor the trends and scrap related posts from around the web. Well this sort of works, even though it does not really convey a moral attitude to blogging as you are basically stealing someone else’s work.
Now saying that I might as well confess that I’ve done this. It can pull in some traffic and you can make some money, but its not really anything to build a business on, not to mention you will either get a DCMA request for stealing content and eventually Google is going to deindex the site and you won’t make any money no matter how many posts you make.
The other way and the method I’ve been able to successfully use to create a stable income from Trend blogs is to have a generic domain name and then manually monitoring the trends throughout the day and then writing short or sometimes long unique posts on the subject. I’ve found this to be the best way, but it does require a good amount of work, but the cool thing is once you build a site up in this manner then you have continued traffic from the search engines to content which is not even on the hot trends any longer.
If you look at the Huffington Post and analyze it then you should realize their main strategy is following trends. Now some people may say they are a news site and that is true as most trend blogs will contain a lot of news type stories as that is the type of topics that come up in trends more than anything else.
Of course there is a little more to this than just posting reviews of news stories and this area is where I differ in my approach. I may put together a little report and just give it away to my subscribers. I had thought of doing this and selling it, but giving it away would be better. I’ll try to get to work on this during the coming week and explain my methods for Trend Blogging.

I don’t know if any of you have heard of the Max Blog Press Ninja Affiliate plugin, but its very cool and a must have plugin for anyone who runs a Wordpress site and wants to sell affiliate products from your site.
This plugin allows you to easily change any of the text in your Wordpress plugin to a high converting affiliate link. You can use this to promote Click Bank products or better you can use it to promote CPA offers either on your blog or off. Many people want to conceal the source of their CPA traffic and this makes it easy to manage your CPA affiliate links from a single location. For example lets say you were promoting a product you can drop a link anywhere to http://www.somesite.com/go/youraffiliatelink and it will redirect through your blog. This allows you to not only make the affiliate link look pretty it also has some built in referrer tracking which allows you to easily see which efforts are producing the best results.
If you combine the power of this plugin with a product like senuke then you will really rack up the commissions very soon. Right now the Ninja Affiliate is on sale and you can get for 30 bucks less than you normally get it. This is a great deal and something that is not done very much. If you are serious about earning money through affiliate links then check this out. Watch the videos on the sales page and you will understand how it works.
Another good use of this plugin is that you can use it to increase the internal linking structure of your site with very little work. This allows you to basically page rank sculpt your blog very easily and it can really help you out with how important Google will view posts within your blog. Check out Ninja now since your competitors are using it and really racking up the commissions.

Is it possible to still earn money with Adsense? A lot of the Gurus will say no, but I disagree. I’ve been trend blogging for a little over a year and I’ve learned a few things about this technique and it pays off for me. Now those of you who know me know I don’t normally talk about how much money I earn and exactly how I earn it, but this day really got me excited and I had to brag a little to my good friend Jay of Datmoney about the accomplishment. I promised Jay’s readers that I would show some proof, so here goes. The following shows a single day’s earning on Adsense and the majority of it is from a post I wrote over a year ago in about 15 minutes.
This day was a couple of weeks ago and needless to say this was a good day. While I’ve had good days before I’ve never had a single day quite this good. Lets show one I took about 10AM this morning which shows the last 7 days. This one does not include the 2K listed above.
Since I normally get the majority of my traffic in the late afternoon and evening today will likely turn out to be a $400-$500 dollar day. Now I realize I have not really told anyone how I did this. I did mention trend blogging, but its my method of trend blogging and for many it would not even be referred to as trend blogging.
I thought of just writing it out here on the site, but then people would read my methods and implement them causing competition for me, without me getting any benefit. So that is not going to work.
I did have an idea on how I can release some of these tips in the manner which stays in line with the mission of No Nonsense Internet Tips and still allows me to protect my strategy.
I purchased an autoresponder last year for a tax deduction, but haven’t really used it. It was one of those off the cuff purchases where I really did not have a plan for it, but bought it anyway. Well my accountant( who is also my wife) has been asking me about ROI for certain expenses including the autoresponder account. Well so now I can solve two problems at once. I will start sharing some of my better tips to people who subscribe to my list. I’m not saying I will not ever push you a product which I think you may be able to use, but I’m not like a lot of Internet Marketers where I have to push a product on you with every email. Nor will I email you every day. So if you want some of my strategies then look in the top right corner and subscribe to my list.
There is actually a couple of tips waiting right now in the queue that helps me with SEO and SE ranking for my posts right now. I will likely put together a step by step guide of how I set up a trend blog and get it to earning more than a couple of bucks a day on adsense soon. I do have a couple of items on my plate so I won’t have time to do this for a few weeks, but I will put it together and make it available to people who are loyal subscribers to my list.
Good luck to everyone in their blogging endeavors.
