At the moment I am using Dragon Naturally Speaking version 10 to type this blog post. While it does make some mistakes he does understand what I’m saying for the most part. The cool part about this is that typing with Dragon NaturallySpeaking is a lot faster than typing normally. This is one of the reasons I have not really kept up with a site like I should have. I just don’t have the time to keep up with this site because it does not a lot of money and as a result I spend my time on other tasks which do earn me money. But with the increased time I say by using this software then perhaps I can keep up with this site as well as my many others. I’ve never been a fast typist and I’ve always wanted to improve my speed but typing fast is just not in my abilities talking fast is another story. While it may take get some getting used to as I realize I do not tie the same as I speak and it does make some mistakes which I must correct. The four were some instances and as I get used to it I should do a better job and things should flow better.

Of course Dragon Naturally Speaking is not going to help with SEO. So, I will still be forced to utilize my keyboard to perform SEO type tasks. Right now I’m looking at probably 80% accuracy rate as I speak this blog post. Which is not really really bad. The one thing is a kind of messes me up with my flow of writing in this post does not seem like a normal blog post from me. But regardless perhaps I will give it a shot anyway as this is really helping my speed with typing a blog post. Right now I spent less than five minutes on this blog post and from looking at it I have a couple hundred words maybe 250. At this rate I can probably speak blog post a lot faster than I can actually write them. Of course it means my process for writing blog posts will need to change I will need to put it in my heated prior to actually starting to speak the blog post. Well this is all for now I just want to see how this would work out and it looks okay I’m have to do a little editing to this post and I may change a couple worked around here and there but for the most part I’m very please with Dragon Naturally Speaking version 10. So what blogging tools do you use have you considered? Dragon Naturally Speaking it may be worth the money no matter what your accent I have a South Georgia accent and it understands me just fine now. Of course this was not always true with version 8 it was a total disaster. But version 10 is definitely an upgrade.

Lots of you long time subscribers may be wondering why and I’m going to tell you. A site like this is pretty much a losing deal for most people including me. When I first started this blog is was not to earn money but because I was tired of all the crap out there about IM and how to make money online. The truth is most of the eBooks and other materials are a waste of time and money and I’ve attempted to explain why that is my opinion. Now I won’t say this is true across the board but the majority of products are crap and if you spent half the time just searching Google as you do looking for the next best thing you would make more money. The main reason the Gurus keep pushing porduct after product is that is their business, they sell you ways to make maoney and that is their business. The truth is if you do some searches in Google and find some of the sites by some of these gurus you won’t be impressed. Seems to me if someone new how to tell you to build a money making site then they should have one or two out there somewhere.

A few months ago I really started studying my methods of creating sites and while they do earn me some money its not where I want to be and I was thinking about things wrong. I had fell into a mind set of creating hundreds of sites on various niches, post a few articles try to get it ranking for a few searches a day and move on. Now while this strategy works its has a fatal flaw. And that flaw is the time this requires and the ongoing expenses of maintaining the domains.

Domain names are really rented not owned and for everyone you have you need to pay the yearly fee. If you have hundreds of domains just as I do then that adds up to a significant expense. Then you add all the time it requires to build a site, post some articles, do some article marketing or link building, etc.. Once you do all that you have a lot of time spent on building domains.

Would it not be a more efficient use of your time to only spend all your time on a couple of sites and build those into authority type sites. The only true way to build an authority site is to have a crap load of content. Now this content can’t be any PLR or other rehashed content. It needs to be unique and well written. Really the only way to get exactly what you want is to either hire fulltime writers( out of most people’s reach) or write it yourself. Writing it yourself requires a lot of time too, but its time well spent.

Of course one of the staples of an Authority site is the amount of content. You need thousands of articles or more and the articles need to rank. Not all need to rank number one for every term, but they do need  to bring in some traffic every month to ensure your success. Now I know there are some people that are shaking their head and saying I’m a nut its not the only way. I’ll prove it to you if you will listen.

Now for a little exercise as this will be a multi post series in the end. Take a look at sites on the web which you consider Authority sites. Take a look at Wikipedia, About.com and others of the same size. Those sites are huge. How did they get huge? They bought the content or in Wikipedia’s case they talked others into writing it, but they are still huge.

Now lets get a little smaller. Take a look at Problogger.net and StevePavlina.com. Look back through Darren’s and Steve old posts. Listen to what they are telling you in those early posts and what they tell you in the posts that talk about their success with blogging. They have something in common. They did not start seeing success in their blogging until a year or two. They posted a lot during this time and then one day things started taking off. Why because they reached critical mass with the number of posts and those older posts where still bringing in traffic. This is the whole secret of building money making blogs. You need a lot of posts at least 500+ and then you also need to be blogging on topics that a lot of people are searching for. The monetization and everything else will just take care of itself once you take care of the critical mass issue.

well I thought this was going to be a series and I was going to go into a lot of detail, but I just realized I’ve said everything that needs to be said on this subject. Build a lot of unique pages and keep doing it and you cna’t help but to be successful with your blogging endeavors.

Now that I’ve gotten this out of the way you are going to see me change this blog’s theme. Not just the way it looks but the topics it covers. I have reasons for this change that I’ve already stated. This is a crap subject and not something I want to spend my limited time doing.

The book  follows a lot of the same context as you find on Problogger in terms of style and context. Of course you should probably expect this as Darren wrote a lot of the book. Overall I would say the book is a good read and has some really useful information. Its mostly theory and advice on things you should be doing when you build a blog. I would have liked it better if there where more explicit examples on some of the items the book covers mainly on stuff like revenue generation and private ad sales.

It would have been hard for them to give specific examples on a platform as the book’s focus was designed to reach a wide array of bloggers and not spend verbiage on any one specific platform. if you are serious about building your blog up, then I would say the book is worth the few dollars it costs and could probably help a lot of people learn to be better bloggers. I don’t really want to spoil any of Darren’s thunder so I won’t tell the specific tactics that are in the book, but I did pick up a couple of items that should help me a lot.

Initially the themes can look a little over whelming, but if you dive right into them, then its not that difficult at all. For the majority of the themes you will need at least 4 categories on your blog and 5 is better as you will need a Featured category for most of the themes. Its then a matter of figuring out what the category ID is of the category you wish to feature and then edit the templates to handle it. Editing the templates is a little tedious, but not hard once you figure out where everything is located. The only way this could be better if Brian had written a plugin to allow you to set the categories and text of the featured sections from within the admin panel which would make it easier for users without comfort with modifying wordpress themes.

The themes are starting to have options which can be set in the admin panel, so this may be something that is on Brian’s list for a future release. Overall I like the way the theme’s look and its quite possible you will see one of the versions on this blog very soon. I need to create some images prior to installing it here to obtain the look I desire, but after going through the city theme this morning I’ve got some ideas how I can make one or a combination of a couple of the themes work out well for this blog.

Brian has a free version of the themes which you can download to try them out on your blog before you purchase, but the free version does not have near the customization features as you get with the professional pack. If you want a professional looking theme at a decent price then you may want to check these out and see what they can do for your blog.

I’ve been reading a post series from Problogger on Ways to let your blog go and its a very good series, possibly one of the best things I’ve ever read on Problogger. One of posts in the series talks about time management for your blog activities and it describes exactly what has happened to me lately. I’ve become stretched too thinly with my activities. This is actually something that happens to a lot of people who earns money on the net and identify themselves as Internet Marketers.

I’ve seen person after person on various Internet marketing forums where someone states they are working their tail off but just can’t seem to catch a break and as a result they make very little or no money at all. Eventually they just give up. The gurus want you jumping from task to task, from site to site as it helps them squeeze more money out of you and you purchase their next major eBook that promises you the one thing that will launch your success. The truth is these people only want your money and they don’t want you to be successful. I’ve read quite a few of these so called eBooks and they pretty much all say the same thing. You don’t need any books, you can get everything you need from blogs just like this one or Problogger.net

Content is the only thing that matters when it comes to making money. Don’t try to sell the Make Money products as an affiliate. If you want to sell affiliate products then find products that appeal to a large segment of the population and just spend time creating good content. It may not pay off immediately for you, but it will pay off in the end.

These so called Gurus and I won’t mention their names have not done much in this world except build up massive lists and re-hash some content in an eBook with the same information you could find for free on the net with some well crafted Google searches. I don’t know of a single well known Internet Marketing Guru that has built any substantial site where you can see concrete proof of how their tactics work. What is the reason for this? If you do see their site’s its apparent those sites are not high traffic and if you have been around the net any length of time you know a site must have traffic to make any decent money.

The Gurus make their money by selling other people guides on how to make money, there is no other revenue stream that they use to make money and that is why they need you.

You will be a lot better off just picking a couple of websites in your chosen niche and focusing all your available time and energy on making those sites the best they can be. Spending time on 30-40 sites at a time will only serve one purpose and that is that none of the sites will become a money maker and allow you to realize your dreams.

Utilizing this data will help you to design your blog posts to take advantages of weaknesses in popular phrases or even target the same phrases as the big sites target. Its not a perfect system and I still need to spend some time figuring this out and determining the best way to use the data, but its still early and I need to do some testing and spying on my competitors before I know exactly how I’m going to use this tool.

MySpace has won another lawsuit against a spammer Scott Richter and his Web marketing company, Media Breakaway LLC of Westminster, Colorado. MySpace has been aggressively targeting people who spam their website. This is just an example of how a good thing gets abused by Internet Marketers. It was not too long ago that eBooks on how to market to MySpace and even software that helped you do this was sold throughout Internet Marketing forums all over the web. As a result you have MySpace fighting back and winning.

A lot of marketers do not think about these types of things when they post how to do something to generate traffic and then others start abusing the methods until they are worthless to everyone. That is one reason I don’t sell eBooks on the techniques I use to generate traffic. I publish posts at times that give some insight into methods I use, but i don’t publish my best secrets. Well I might once a lot of people start to figure it out and then I’m on to something else while others are spamming an otherwise effective method to the point that it does not work any longer. Wake up people and keep some secrets to yourself. You can make more money long term from the traffic than you can short term from an eBook.

I’m always looking for other methods to earn money on the web and Amazon Mechanical Turk has some capability to earn a little bit or cash, but a better use for it is to get low cost workers to help you with your web promotion. Basically it works like this you sign up for an account and either request to be assigned an Amazon Mechanical Turk for you to perform a hit on. A Hit is basically an action. It can be as simple as providing feedback or it could be a blog review. The reviews are where it gets useful as you can us it to help build up your backlinks to a blog or other website. This is an interesting concept and it works similar to other lancing sites such as the many free lancing sites, except you could have a hundred people performing hits for you all at once. The terms are a little tough, but as long as you stick to the rules you could gain a lot of backlinks in a short amount of time, with just a little investment on your part. What I will divulge is that I’ve been playing with a new traffic generation technique that was just staring me in the face for months and I did not realize what I was looking at. I’m not going to let it out of the bag at the moment, but will after I spend a little more time developing the techniques, but what I will tell is it is so easy to generate thousands of real visitors to a brand new website which will convert to revenue for no investment on your part. Some of the Gurus are using this, but for the most part these techniques are getting overlooked. I will show a screen shot and will be divulging exactly how I obtained these numbers on a brand new site later on so you may want to subscribe if you are not already subscribed.

This is a domain that I registered about a year ago, but never did anything with. In January I put up a wordpress blog and made a couple of posts, but did not actively promote it as I was working on other sites. You should be able to tell by the graphic that I found my little technique in the last part of May. At first it was not monetized at all so the May traffic did not produce desired results, but I quickly fixed that and the June traffic is going to net me a little money. I’m still working on the best methods to get the most conversion out of the traffic and I have some ideas which will increase the conversion rate. Its not bad, but its also not where I would like it to be. I’m looking at some other methods and using the same techniques to push traffic to my other sites which is really starting to pay off.

The system was changed so the price to advertise is based on supply. So the more people who want to advertise on a blog, the higher the price. Now overall I think this is fair. But there are some items I don’t like about the new system. The first is all the blogs are really high priced, even ones that don’t perform. Before I could grab spots on blogs in the 20-40 credit range and get fairly decent ROI from those blogs. The price was cheap enough that I could buy a lot of ads and keep them running all the time. That’s pretty much impossible now. Earlier I wanted to purchase some ads and I did not even look at any over 128 credits. Most of the ones I looked at did not look to be one that would bring me any clicks or not very many. I went through 1000 credits in just a couple of minutes. Now I have the credits because at first I dropped a lot of cards and i never spent as many credits as I earned. So I have over 20K in credits in my account. It took a lot of dropping for me to build those credits and I don’t want to blow them all on a few days advertising.

For this reason I’m seriously considering just giving up on Entrecard. I just don’t have the time to drop every day like crazy and without doing that then I don’t see how I can make this worth my time. At one time I could drop on weekends to the amount of credits that where allowed and then throughout the week on my favorites and have plenty of credits to keep my blog out there on numerous sites everyday, but there is no way I would be able to do that now. I’m going to need to decide if I want to keep this up or just offer a contest for all my credits and spend my limited time on other methods of promotion.
