Leadership Seminar

I was invited to a leadership seminar today where the speaker was Dr. Jim Crupi. The presentation lasted around 4 hours and I did not want him to stop then. This was a leadership presentation and I really did not expect what I heard. The longer he spoke the more I started comparing his techniques to internet marketing. I don’t think he meant for it to come across as I perceived it, but still I started to see some similarities.

One of the biggest impacts he had on me was talking about the end of the Information age and the start of the communication age. This was very interesting to me as I was speaking with my wife a few weeks ago about this very same thing. Visitors want to be engaged by a website. They are no longer content with just finding content on a site, but they want to interact not only with the site but with the other visitors of the site. This is known on the web as Web 2.0. Now the fact that Jim mentioned this paradigm shift was not surprising to me as I had already realized its coming, but Jim extended the shift outside of just the online world. I had not considered that the shift was for the entire culture both online and off, but I was thinking of more of an online prescience. This actually makes a lot of sense, after all the internet is just an extension of the people who use it.

If you think about this from a marketing perspective then this becomes a valuable commodity. Reach to the person’s soul with your writing and copy and you will accomplish your intended goals, whatever they may be. The one thing to remember is to not let your experience stand in the way of determining what your customers need and want. Observe the situation at hand and determine the goal of your actions. Fill those needs and you can never go wrong.

I took a lot of notes on the presentation and I will be making additional posts on this subject after I have had more time for reflection.
