Link Exchanges have been something that is on my radar lately especially since I’ve just launched this blog and I don’t have a lot of traffic as of yet. The search genies are starting to pick me up and I’ve received a decent amount of traffic from efforts in the forum of Social Bookmarking and forum marketing. I’m not really planning on starting a extensive traffic drive until I get the content built up a little more and I finalize what plugins and theme I want to utilize. Once I figure those items out, I’ll start working on links and building PR for the site. I’ve got a few fairly high traffic sites with decent PR that I can link from and that will give me an instant boost to my PR once it updates again. Google did a PR update a few weeks ago so I probably have until the last of January or first of Feb. to get a decent amount of incoming links. My goal is to at least get a PR 4 by the next Google PR update, which should have me at about 300 uniques a day and which will launch this site to a steady growth of over 1000 uniques a day by summer. This will also give me enough time to build out some useful content for visitors and keep them coming back.
WorkBoxers wrote a blog post the other day about how to request link exchanges and how keeping a personal touch to the requests will help. I would love to get a link from one of the other IM bloggers sites with a decent PR, but until I get some more content posted I won’t waste my time with requesting any links. If someone decides to link then that would be great. I’ll just keep putting the footprint of this site out on the web and we’ll see what happens. The article on WorkBoxers is a pretty good read so I would suggest you check it out.
