Microsoft bid to buy Yahoo

Unless you’ve been under a rock the past few days then I’m sure you have read that Microsoft made a bid to purchase Yahoo for 44 billion dollars. I’ve read varying opinions on whether this is a good move or a bad move. I for one think it will be good for a lot of people. The main reason I see this as positive is it helps to put more pressure on Google. I’ve posted before that Google is getting a little to big for its own good and more competition will only mean it must continue to push the envelope and innovate.

This move also helps Microsoft gain a footing in the Social Media revolution an area where it does not have a lot of influence. Perhaps MS will be able to take MyBlogLog and turn it around. Don’t get me wrong I like MyBlogLog or at least I liked the idea, but lately its become pretty much a place for spammers and most of the announcements are rubbish. We’ll just have to see how this works out in the end and it may not even happen, but if it does then it could mean some good things down the road.

Hi..
yeah.. i heard of this. and also heard… that Yahoo! wants to sell itself to Google…

See this article.. http://corpoalert.com/2008/02/07/yahoo-to-merge-with-google-forming-yoogle/
this even claims that.. they are merging into ‘YOOGLE!”

in an ideal world merger like would not be welcome, but google dominated internet is not an ideal world. so anything that might create a decent competition for google is good news

I agree about MyBlogLog. Spam is one thing, but also nothing really changed since Yahoo took it over … all they did was changing users login info to Yahoo accounts and pasted Yahoo logos on the site …

I think its a good thing. Google is getting a bit to carried away when it comes to internet and as bizgiftguru has stated, some competition is more than welcome. Google will and are doing whatever they can to stop the merger.
