Ranking Well with Content

There is an interesting post on CopyBlogger today titled How to Create Content that Ranks well in Search engines. This is such a novel concept especially in the Internet marketing arena. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen sites from Newbies who just copies some content from Article directories or generated some sites to earn a couple of bucks a day or a couple of bucks a month from a single site. Now I’m not going to say I’ve never created a generated site, if you read some of my older posts you will see I admitted to it. But I don’t think this is really a way to build an internet business.

If you want to really make a living from the internet that is self sustaining ( Read you do not have to keep creating 15 sites a week to keep any traffic coming in) then you must build high quality unique content that becomes your own.

There are a lot of the Gurus out there that will disagree with me and that is fine. I don’t receive their paychecks and they don’t receive mine. Let’s think like innovators about this entire thing. Suppose I wanted to sell eBooks on how to make money on the Internet. Now let’s suppose( I never have, but won’t say I never will) I wrote an eBook revealing my super secret method for getting loads of traffic to your website. I make outlandish claims, I show you fabulous images of my Corvettes and huge mansions all to entice you that if you follow my simple techniques then you can have these things too. So you give me your 47 or 97 or 197 dollars and then I send you my eBook.

You implement the procedures in the eBook and have some success, but you are not making all the money you dreamed so you move onto another eBook selling another dream to easy riches. Maybe even sold by the same marketers under another name. Or better yet you come back to me for my improved eBook that will really teach you everything you need to know. You pay me again for the same content that was in the first book with just a little bit more added in. This is what constitutes a marketer’s dream customer. One who buys again and again.

So now you have spent all that time and money reading eBooks building junk sites that will only fool the Search Engines for a couple of months at the most. You build hundreds of blogger blogs to build up links to your generated site. You promote each site to hundreds of directories, you write articles, and submit to Craigslist or where else you can find, but you are still struggling or if you are making some money its now more than a couple of hundred bucks a month. Not nearly enough to live on in the United States. You are working 15 hours days trying to build all those sites and promote them. And you are doing a poor job of that because you just don’t have the time because you have to keep building new sites to keep up with those which have been banned from the SE’s or maybe you keep them, but you start purchasing PPC to drive your traffic. This cuts into your profits and the domain name costs are killing you, but GoDaddy loves you as you are registering hundreds of domain names every month. All the while you are not achieving your goals so then you start looking for other methods.

By this time you’ve spent a year on these tasks and you are nowhere near your dream of a self sustaining income. You could have spent a couple of hours every day writing some useful and unique content on a handful of domains that provides your visitors value. The content is well written and unique so Google loves you and other webmasters and bloggers write about you and link to you often because you just have something of value. You are only working a few hours a week and earning as much if not more than you would be with the churn and burn method. You’ve kept all your money because you only needed one hosting account and a few domain names. You have hundreds of unique pages indexed in all the major search engines. You are bringing just as much traffic from all the free links you have throughout the web. If the search engine traffic hiccups you don’t sweat it as much because you are not reliant upon them for all your traffic. If you want to go on vacation you go because your visitors will forgive you for not updating the site for a couple of weeks. So you decide which strategy listed here will bring you the results you so desire. Content is the King and always will be, there are no shortcuts, just hard work for a year and then you are there. I suggest you reading copy blogger above if you have not and you should even subscribe to that blog. It can teach you more than $1000 dollar eBooks.
