The Gurus are dead

There is a great post over at the Warriors forum about Gurus in the IM business. It has been quite amusing and has even had a stop by post or two from Allen Says. Its a very interesting read and quite funny at times. Its getting a little out of hand at the moment so hopefully it won’t get deleted. Here it is.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this entire Death of IM thing that has been going around the forum and I have some ideas that I’ll post later when I have more time.

ProBlogger.Net

One of the blogs I read regularly is problogger.net. Darren is very insightful and someone who has manged to make a living off of just writing a few posts in his blog. This blog is full of interesting ideas and I would suggest if you are serious about blogging or just do it for fun, then you may want to spend some time reading his ideas. Darren has become so popular in the the blogsphere that he can even get volunteers to keep up his blog when he leaves the country. Darren made a post the other day asking for readers to submit tips on blogging which he will automatically post while he is away and he had more than he could use. You can read about this at http://www.problogger.net/archives/2006/11/14/fasten-your-seat-belts-the-next-two-weeks-could-get-bumpy/

Its worth to study Darren’s tactics and there are also some good tips coming live on his blog this week. Darren is one of those entrepreneurial bloggers who has pretty much turned his passion for blogging into a full time income. I’m not as up on his blog lately so I’m not sure if he has posted any earnings, but he has said his entrepreneurial blogging efforts earn him a great residual income. Darren runs several other blogs besides problogger.net and they are all very professionally done. Hopefully one day I can learn form his examples enough to become an entrepreneurial blogger in my own right

List building suggestions

I’ve been looking for a good list building program. There is one included with my host, but that may not be a good idea as one spam complaint could get my site shutdown. I looked at Aweber which a lot of people on the Warrior Forum recommend. It can get a little pricey, not too bad. I also looked at ListMailPro, which also looks interesting and a lot of people seem to like that. If you have any suggestions, please go ahead and post them as I’m totally confused by all this.
