Traffic Generation to your Blog Part 3

As long as you have relevant and unique content on your site by this time you should be able to see some of your pages indexed in the major search engines. Once you see that happen create a sitemap and submit it to Google, Yahoo and MSN. There is a word press plugin that will do this for you and you can search the web for ways to create the site map for other platforms. Important do not submit your sitemap before you see at least one of your pages indexed in Google and Yahoo. MSN does not matter as much. A lot of people will tell you to submit your sitemap immediately upon launch, but I disagree. Google likes to find pages and there are many instances and conversations on the net that will argue that pages Google finds on its own will always out rank submitted pages. If for some reason you still have not had at least one page indexed within two weeks then go ahead and submit your sitemap. This is rare that this may happen so if it does then check back over your pages and content to ensure you are not breaking any of the SE’s rules.

After you submit your sitemap, then its time to launch your blog out into the blogsphere in a big way, find a firefox plugin named Submit It Now. If you are not using Firefox, then stop reading now and go get it. Come back later when you have a decent browser that can help you achieve your goals.

Once you have the plugin installed, fill out all the fields in a new project and start submitting through out the sites. Make sure you submit keywords as well as your RSS field. In fact its best to complete all the fields in the project. This will take a little time but will be well worth the effort. Not all the sites listed in Submit Now will apply to your topic. Only submit to the ones that take blogs or is related to the subject of your site. Submitting to un-related sites will not bring you traffic and they can hurt you in the SE’s down the road.

At this point your site should be indexed and depending upon the quality of your content and the competition for your keywords you may or may not be receiving a lot of traffic from the SE’s. You should definitely be receiving a decent amount of traffic from these other efforts with the Social Sites.

At this point you can let the site rest as far as submitting. You still need to post a new article every couple of days, but you don’t need to constantly submit. After this only bookmark your best posts. At this point you should also be converting some of your traffic. If you are not slow down on promotion and figure out what is wrong with your conversion ratios. This way you don’t lose a lot of traffic that did not convert because you have made a mistake with your conversion factors.

If you follow the above tips, then you should have a decent presence in the SE’s and you can then track and work on SEO to improve those positions to bring more traffic. You can also now start working on backlinks and article submission to bring in more traffic.
