Generating Traffic

People are always wondering how to get more traffic to a website. Most of the time this stems from not being able to become indexed in the search engines. While this task has become harder over the years following a few disciplined approaches should be able to get you indexed in a short amount of time less than two weeks. I could have written this all in an ebook and probably made a few dollars, but this is information that I learned from others and some from my own mistakes and experiences. Plus there are already plenty of eBooks out there on this subject already.
There is a little too much information for a blog post so I wrote out three pages and posted them. This is not exhaustive as there are many more ways to get listed and traffic than what I cover in the pages. I don’t believe in black hat tactics and I did not cover everything I use as I forgot some while I was writing.
The pages cover enough methods to keep you busy for a few days and they should produce results as long as you follow the plan I lay out. One thing I did not mention in the posts that is also very useful for getting indexed is forum posting. Find forums related to your niches and become a member of the community there. Once you have established yourself in the forum a lot them will allow you to post a signature. Put a link to your site there as it will help you with the indexing process as well as bring in some targeted traffic. Read the articles on this first and pay attention to the section about what to do before you submit. You don’t want the SE’s to find your site before you are ready for it to be found. These are the exact same tips I have used on this blog. I registered this domain name a little over a month ago and I have already generated over 8000 page views to this site with these methods this month, so I know they work.

[…] Google should update PR sometime in late January or early February so we’ll just have to wait and see how it works out. Regardless of how it goes with the PR update, I am starting to see some organic traffic to this site and of course I’ve also generated a decent amount of traffic from my traffic generation techniques. I have not really worked very hard on generating traffic to this site as it is never going to be much of a money maker. I spend most of my promotion time on my other niche sites which generate a lot more revenue than this one. […]
[…] One way to do this is to focus on the goal and not let it die. My New Year’s resolution is to build my online business to the 5 figure per month revenue level and to finally find the freedom to do what I want to do, not what I have to do. I’m going to do this by focusing on building great content and a lot of it by blogging every day on at least one of my sites. I’m going to try and do it on all my 5 sites, but I know with spending the majority of the day at work this is going to be hard. I’m going to work harder on generating traffic to my sites and I pledge to spend at least 1 hour every day on those tasks. And the biggy, I resolve to spend less time at the office and more time on my own stuff. I will not work more than 45 hours per week at the office. If something does not get done then it does not get done. After all no one is going to die if the email stops working for 10 minutes or even an entire day. I pledge to give to myself this year more than I let the job take away from me. Thanks for the great post Steve and motivating me. […]
