Posts I missed

I’ve been fairly busy the last couple of weeks and have not been keeping up with my blog reading. In my opinion reading other blogs is a must for anyone who wants to blog and keep a fresh influx of ideas for new blog posts. Anyway I came across a couple that I thought I would share.
Wendy from eMoms at Home wrote an interesting post last week about choosing a domain name and the importance of paying attention when you do or you may end up with unintended words in your domain name.
I also found a new blog this week BlueHatSEO. I’ve only caught up on a quarter of the posts yet, probably why I’m behind with my other reading. This is a very interesting blog if you want to rank in the SE’s. Now this blog is not for the weak of nerve, but there are some interesting ideas for imporving your rankings in the Search Engines and driving more traffic to a site. Some of the ideas borderline( well hell they are plain out black hat SEO) ethical, but they have some potential for someone willing to do a little work to take a shortcut. Sort of an oxymoron there but you get the idea. I’ll give you one to start with How to be a Gray Hat
Micheal Gray of GrayWolf has some tips on how to set up your robots.txt properly avoid duplicate content penalties.
Darren Rowse of ProBlogger talks about comments on blogs and whether new bloggers should fake them. I found this one interesting because this blog has never gotten a lot of comments and I’ve always wondered why. its not because there is not traffic because I get a fair share, afterall you are reading this now. Darren states that he gets more comments when he asks for them so I’ll probably start doing that now.
Share your favorite blog posts from the week. I don’t even care if they are to your own site as long as they are relevant to the them of this blog, I’ll approve them. I’ll even approve link that are not relevant as long as there is a decent comment attached and its not apparent spam. Which brings me to my next post of the week which I can’t find at the moment, but I’ll give you the jist of it.
All t hat comment spam you get and catch in your Askimet filter can be useful. A lot of times the domain name the spammers use is dead. Either they are just dumb and can’t type or they have had their account banned for spamming. If you grab one of those names then you will gain the results of the spammer’s work. Think about it a little.
