Getting to the top of Squidoo

Well a week has went by in the Squidoo Challenge and I’m holding the number one slot with a rank of #89 for my lens at http://www.squidoo.com/affiliate-marketing-guide

I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to hold onto this position as there are some very talented people in this contest and several are coming up fast. I’ve actually learned a lot about Squidoo as a result of this contest and I really want to share some of it. Alot of people focus on the stars and think that has everything to do with gaining rank, I’m not so sure that has a lot to do with actual rank. I’m sure it is considered in the ranking formula, but I don’t think its as important as some of the old time lensmasters think. One of the most important aspects of ranking is fresh content. You have to keep the lens fresh or it won’t continue to rise in the ranks. There are also some other tricks that will help you rise even more. The key is to read the help files and observe what modules the most popular lenses use. I believe the modules you employ also contributes to how your lens ranks. I have no hard evidence to this but its would appear that certain modules can help you rank better.
