Using FARK to gain visitors

FARK is a website like Digg where users submit stories of interest throughout the web. The main difference between FARK and Digg is FARK is more democratic in nature. This is because while a DIGG story can become buried by just one power user.FARK is different while its the same. I’m not sure of exactly how the stories make it to the front page, but what I do know on certain topics if one does make it to the top, then you are getting a shitload of traffic in a short amount of time. The site is growing and while not as big as Digg, the traffic you gain is a lot better about converting into revenue generating actions. I should keep this to myself, but I figured I might as well share in a No Nonsense manner. The FARK users are not as picky about stories as the Digg kids are and they are nto as picky or get their feelings hurt. Give it a try with the right topic and I won’t divulge that as I would be divulging a niche that is doing very well for me lately and I’m not planning on sharing this niche as it will be short lived, but is generating some green.

What I will divulge is that I’ve been playing with a new traffic generation technique that was just staring me in the face for months and I did not realize what I was looking at. I’m not going to let it out of the bag at the moment, but will after I spend a little more time developing the techniques, but what I will tell is it is so easy to generate thousands of real visitors to a brand new website which will convert to revenue for no investment on your part. Some of the Gurus are using this, but for the most part these techniques are getting overlooked. I will show a screen shot and will be divulging exactly how I obtained these numbers on a brand new site later on so you may want to subscribe if you are not already subscribed.

TrafficScreenshot

This is a domain that I registered about a year ago, but never did anything with. In January I put up a wordpress blog and made a couple of posts, but did not actively promote it as I was working on other sites. You should be able to tell by the graphic that I found my little technique in the last part of May. At first it was not monetized at all so the May traffic did not produce desired results, but I quickly fixed that and the June traffic is going to net me a little money. I’m still working on the best methods to get the most conversion out of the traffic and I have some ideas which will increase the conversion rate. Its not bad, but its also not where I would like it to be. I’m looking at some other methods and using the same techniques to push traffic to my other sites which is really starting to pay off.

Build Backlinks Best Value by Widgets Meme

Considering the new features happening over at Entrecard, I thought I would start a meme in celebration.  If you have not noticed, there are quite a few changes in the dashboard as well as in statistics. One of my favorites is you are able to tell exactly how well you did on any particular day of advertising on a blog. This helps you to determine ROI and help you to chose the best blogs for you to spend your hard earned credits on. I personally love this new feature. Entrecard  has also been busy building some new features on the dashboard, which ads to the social aspect of Entrecard. You can read all about these new improvements on the entrecard blog.

Okay to the Meme:

1. First link back to this post so people will know where the Meme came from and link to the person who tagged you, Of course this is more of a request than a rule. I’m not Sam Freedom afterall :-)

2. Link to each of the blogs listed in your Best Value by Widget table. Once you link to them send them a message and let them know they were tagged.

3. Now go through everyone of the blogs you list and stumble, sphinn, digg, submit to propeller, submit to reddit one of their posts or any other methods you can think of to help the blog’s traffic, such as favoriting the blog on technorati. You can do any or all of these things, but the more the better it will be for everyone.

4. Once you post  the meme message the person who tagged you so they can go to your site and stumble, digg or whatever to help the people you tag. It would also be nice if when you passed a site with this meme posted if you would hit all the sites listed with a little social media love. It will only take you a minute to help out a fellow blogger.

5. If we can get quite a few people doing even half of this meme, then everyone involved should see a dramatic increase in traffic to their blogs as well as help them build up their backlink count.

So here are my best value widgets:

One of the blogs I read from time to time is TopRankBlog and they published an article a few days ago of a review of Getting to First Base with Social Media Marketing which seemed interesting. Well the author of the book commented offering bloggers a review copy of the book, so I thought it might be interesting and sent the author an email. My review copy was sent to me today. Of course I was thinking like a blogger when I requested the book and thought it would be more of a tutorial on how bloggers can take advantage of social media networks such as Facebook, Digg, or the countless others to increase our web traffic. I never bothered to read the actual sales copy at  Social Media Ready if I had read the copy I probably would not have asked for the copy as its not really targeted at me. Its targeted at people who would like for me or other bloggers to blog about their products.

Even though it was not targeted at me I found the book to be informative from the standpoint that it is written for people who may come asking me to advertise their wares on one of my sites. Its sometimes good to know where the people from the other side of the table are coming from. Since this is the target market a lot can be garnered from reading this eBook. Of course if you want to learn about Social Media from a blogger standpoint then it would be a waste of your time and money. While the definitions and advice may be useful for a marketing relations manager who still have trouble reading their email, but for the readers of this blog I don’t think you will learn anything about the Social Media sites you frequent. But on the other hand if you would like some incite into some of the techniques Marketing professionals  may utilize when contacting you then it may make since for you to request a review copy otherwise I doubt it will be of much use to any one who is from the other side of the equation and are building blogs for fun or profit.
