What have I been doing lately? Well even though I said I would never do it again I took a job. Its not an average job, but one which puts me closest to some of the best minds in Internet Marketing. I was looking around Craigslist and saw an add that peaked my interest. The ad was looking for someone with .Net experience specifically Community Server and it was an Internet Marketing company.
Well I decided to just send in my resume and low and behold I got a call the next day. The company was StomperNet which is considered by many people as the best training company in the world on Internet Marketing technologies. I interviewed on a Friday with the president and a couple of other employees. Then got a call from the famous Brad Fallon on Monday night. After spending just a few minutes talking with Brad Fallon I knew this was a person I had to get to know. The guy has a lot of great ideas and really understands what people need with Internet Marketing training.
Well after speaking with him for about 40 minutes and asking a lot of questions about where the company was going I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Brad offered me the position and I immediately accepted it. There is a lot of work to do, but I’m totally excited about the opportunities. I’ve only been there a couple of weeks so far, but I have already learned so much. Everyday I pick up something new about Internet Marketing that I did not know before. This is all the information that comes from inside the StomperNet membership site. There is so much great information that its going to take me quite a while to absorb it all.

One issue I’ve had since going fulltime with IM is with efficiency. Seems like sense I now have more time to work on my Internet Business, I’m not as effective as I was when I had less time since I had to spend 70 hours a week at my day job. This is very strange, but it is a problem. Perhaps the reason is I’m not under the gun as much and so I’m not as focused.
I’m sure this is a problem that a lot of people have. In fact I know it is since I see it on forums all the time. I’ve been working on methods to keep myself on track and ensure I spend my time effectively and I thought I would share them with you.
The first thing is actually going to work. I no longer sit around in the bedroom slippers and work on the laptop from the sofa. Instead I get up and actually get dressed. I’m even getting dressed in work clothes just as if I was going out of the house to an office environment. This includes shoes, but it does not include a tie. Just can’t make myself do that again.
Another couple of things I’ve done is to create recurring task lists which I must accomplish every day before a certain time. This is very easy to do with Outlook and it has really helped my focus.
Of course even thought I have my tasks setup, there is always more to do than I really have time, so I’ve been working on efficiency too. One of the most time consuming tasks in my business is writing content. I do outsource some of it, but even if you get the cheapest writer around who still produces legible content you are creating an expense for your business, so I try to do as much of this as possible as it directly affects my bottom line.
One thing I did was to buy another monitor for by desktop computer. This additional monitor allows me to have my research up on one screen and write on the other one. This allows me to work a lot faster since I don’t have to switch back and forth between applications. This may not seem like much, but I’ve found that I’ve almost doubled my efficiency since making this change.
Another item is to really start using Dragon Naturally Speaking. For a long time this software would not work for me and my Southern English, but since version 10 it is very easy for me to train the software to my voice. Nuance claims the software can improve your output three times and I believe them. I have not ran controlled tests of this, but it does help quite a lot.
So do you have any tips for improving efficiency when working on your IM business, if so I would love to hear them.

Since I started working fulltime online, I’ve been to several Internet Marketing conferences. If I had written this post a year ago, I would have said these where a waste of time. Of course I had never been to one so I would not have been talking about actual experience. Well I’ve been to two conferences in the past month. The first was Stompernet here in Atlanta held a couple of weeks ago and today I went to the World Internet Marketing conference, also in Atlanta.
Both of these were very useful. Of course these are designed to get you to buy something, but there is also a lot of good information shared at these meetings. I only went today to the World Internet Marketers conference so I can’t really comment on which was better, they both have their strengths. I still have not decided whether I’ll go back to the conference tomorrow. Perry Belcher is speaking and even though he is speaking on Social Media and not PPC, I may need to hear him.
Stompernet was a great experience even though it gave me some information overload. I learned so much at it that I could not even start to describe all the benefits. The easiest thing is if you have a chance to attend a Stompernet Conference, just go. I’ve got so many ideas about how to improve my online business that it will take me months to implement just half of them. I got so many good ideas, you will start to see a change in me very soon. I’m not going to leave the No Nonsense theme, jsut refine it. I’ll post more on that later.
Well back to the world Internet Conference. I was late to it today and only got to listen to a couple of speakers. One was Carrie Wilkerson and I really enjoyed her presentation. She seems real and down to earth. She has branded herself as the Barefoot Executive and has had a lot of success in just a little while online.
She said one thing in her presentation that resonated with me. Don’t wait until everything is perfect, just do it. It does not matter if you are writing an ebook product, affiliate marketing, trend blogging or what ever. Just do it. I know I’m guilty of procrastination from time to time and I’m sure most people who decide to work online do procrastinate. This is because there is so much information coming at you all the time. Its hard to stay focused. Since I lost the day job, I’ve become more focused, but no where to the point I need to be.
If you are struggling to make some money online then just get out there and do something. don’t wait until its perfect to start as that will never happen. Just get out there and do something. Anything you do today will help you reach your goals tomorrow.
By the way if you are not a member of my list, make sure you get on it. I’ve got a special gift coming very soon to people who are on my inner circle.
