Build Backlinks Best Value by Widgets Meme

Considering the new features happening over at Entrecard, I thought I would start a meme in celebration.  If you have not noticed, there are quite a few changes in the dashboard as well as in statistics. One of my favorites is you are able to tell exactly how well you did on any particular day of advertising on a blog. This helps you to determine ROI and help you to chose the best blogs for you to spend your hard earned credits on. I personally love this new feature. Entrecard  has also been busy building some new features on the dashboard, which ads to the social aspect of Entrecard. You can read all about these new improvements on the entrecard blog.

Okay to the Meme:

1. First link back to this post so people will know where the Meme came from and link to the person who tagged you, Of course this is more of a request than a rule. I’m not Sam Freedom afterall :-)

2. Link to each of the blogs listed in your Best Value by Widget table. Once you link to them send them a message and let them know they were tagged.

3. Now go through everyone of the blogs you list and stumble, sphinn, digg, submit to propeller, submit to reddit one of their posts or any other methods you can think of to help the blog‘s traffic, such as favoriting the blog on technorati. You can do any or all of these things, but the more the better it will be for everyone.

4. Once you post  the meme message the person who tagged you so they can go to your site and stumble, digg or whatever to help the people you tag. It would also be nice if when you passed a site with this meme posted if you would hit all the sites listed with a little social media love. It will only take you a minute to help out a fellow blogger.

5. If we can get quite a few people doing even half of this meme, then everyone involved should see a dramatic increase in traffic to their blogs as well as help them build up their backlink count.

So here are my best value widgets:

Social Networking Site Stats

TechCrunch has posted some statistics for Social Networking Sites and how they are doing in terms of traffic and users. There is some interesting information in the report. I’ve used this types of sites to drive traffic to various sites for a couple of years now and they can be effective for generating traffic. As a rule the traffic from these locations do not tend to stick around long, but its not always the case.

I’ve noticed that every time I make a well thought out submission to one of these sites to promote a various blog post, I always pick up some subscribers. The key is to not spam the Social sites, but to provide content that fits in with the interests of the particular social site. I only submit related articles to this site which match the interests of the people there. I’ve found as long as I spend enough time reading various hot topics on the social sites I get a better feel of what to write when I submit one of my articles that will generate the clicks to the full article.

This takes a decent amount of time to learn, but once done properly it can really help your blog to grow. I don’t claim to have this down to a science, but I do know that certain topics seem to do better on certain sites. For example almost everyone knows Technology type posts seem to do a lot better on a site such as Digg than ones on Marketing. At the same time Sphinn is focused more towards marketing and will produce better results for Marketing articles. Netscape or Propeller will do better with human interest type or weight loss articles. Propeller has shown to do fairly well in quite a few niches and I still get traffic to certain articles that where submitted over a year ago from this site.

The key to making effective use of Social Sites for generating traffic is to match the social site to the niche you wish to promote. The more time you spend as a member of the social site’s community, the better feel you will have for what they want to find out about. It may be a little work and take some time, but the payoff can be tremendous. Remember the Golden rule when submitting to Social Sites “contribute, don’t spam”.
